Croup

- Most common form of airway obstruction in children six months to six years
- Upper airway obstruction causes a barking cough, a hoarse voice, inspiratory stridor, and varying degrees of respiratory distress

Management:

Steroids: Dexamethasone 0.6 mg/kg to max of 10 mg PO/IM

Racemic Epinephrine: If stridor at rest give Racemic epinephrine 0.5 ml(2.25%) mixed with 3 ml of
Normal Saline

Must observed for at least 4 hours for rebound respiratory distress if given racemic epinephrine, if recurs retreat and admit for observation
